The Mothman – 1 AVDP Oz .999 Fine Copper Round | Cryptozoology Collection

Description:

Ominous and enigmatic, the Mothman descends from legend into copper with this haunting entry in the Cryptozoology Collection. Said to appear before disaster strikes, this winged humanoid has fascinated and unsettled eyewitnesses since the 1960s — a symbol of mystery, omen, and fear.

Struck in .999 fine copper, this 1 oz AVDP round measures 39mm and features the Mothman mid-flight, framed by high-voltage towers and an eerie twilight sky. Its slender, almost alien figure hovers between insect and humanoid, wings stretched wide and glowing eyes piercing forward. The reverse bears the series’ signature layout — a procession of cryptid prints and paw marks under the “INTAGLIO MINT” heading, anchored by a large humanoid footprint.

The Legend:

First sighted in Point Pleasant, West Virginia in 1966, the Mothman is described as a tall, black figure with massive wings and glowing red eyes. Its most famous connection is the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge in 1967, which many believe the creature warned of. Whether harbinger, hoax, or hidden species, the Mothman remains a fixture in American cryptid lore.

Highlights:

  • Contains 1 oz. AVDP of .999 Fine Copper
  • Obverse: The Mothman flying between power lines with wings spread, “THE MOTHMAN” across the top
