CRYPTOZOOLOGY – BEAST OF BUSCO
New Release
Beast of Busco – 1 AVDP Oz .999 Fine Copper Round | Cryptozoology Collection
Description:
Lurking beneath the waters of Churubusco, Indiana, the Beast of Busco surfaces in copper form — a monstrous turtle that captured national headlines and local obsession. This round from the Cryptozoology Collection pays homage to the creature that sparked a 1949 media frenzy and remains one of America’s most peculiar aquatic legends.
Struck in .999 fine copper, this 1 oz AVDP round measures 39mm and features a dramatic split-view design: above the waterline, the beast’s immense snapping turtle head roars toward the horizon; below, its hulking limbs and armored shell churn through the lakebed. The level of detail — from its scaly tail to the swampy background — captures both the majesty and menace of this cryptid. The reverse features the series’ signature arrangement of cryptid tracks and pawprints beneath the “INTAGLIO MINT” heading, anchored by a prominent humanoid footprint.
The Legend:
The Beast of Busco is said to be a giant alligator snapping turtle, as large as a dining table and nearly impossible to catch. Eyewitness accounts describe a prehistoric creature with a domed shell and massive jaws, capable of sinking boats and evading traps. Despite exhaustive hunts and media attention, the creature was never captured — cementing its place in cryptid lore.
