CRYPTOZOOLOGY – AHOOL
The Ahool – 1 AVDP Oz .999 Fine Copper Round | Cryptozoology Collection
Description:
Swooping from the rainforests of Java comes the Ahool — a winged enigma that blurs the line between bat, primate, and monster. This copper round from our Cryptozoology Collection captures the terror and allure of this lesser-known but striking cryptid, said to haunt the treetops with a chilling cry.
Struck in .999 fine copper, this 1 oz AVDP round measures 39mm and features an intense design: the Ahool crouched menacingly on a branch, massive wings spread wide, sharp claws gripping bark, and a snarling face turned toward the viewer. Every muscle and membrane is finely rendered, giving life to the myth. The reverse showcases the Cryptozoology Collection’s hallmark — a lineup of cryptid tracks and pawprints, anchored by a large, humanoid footprint and topped with the “INTAGLIO MINT” banner.
The Legend:
The Ahool’s name comes from its haunting cry — “ahooool!” — heard deep in the jungles of Indonesia. Described as having a 10-foot wingspan and a face eerily human, the Ahool is believed by some to be an undiscovered species of giant bat or even a flying primate. It remains one of Southeast Asia’s most chilling and mysterious cryptids, heard far more often than seen.
